After successful work with Netflix, Çağatay Ulusoy proved to be very popular with international companies. His next work is a series for Netflix's main rival, Amazon Prime. Once again, Çağatay was the first!
Amazon Prime with 150 million subscribers in the world, followed its main competitor, Netflix begins working with the Turkish market. To develop his first Turkish series, Amazon signed a contract with Eric Barmak (who had previously been developing non-English-speaking Netflix content and was responsible for creating the series The Protector) and OGM Pictures.
Two years ago, Eric Barmak bought the film rights to the famous novel "Museum of Innocence" / Masumiyet Müzesi by Orhan Pamuk. The author was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature. It's a classic love story where young man Kemal, who is to marry a wealthy heiress, falls in love with his poor relative Fusun. Initially, he considers his feelings as a quick fling, and does not think to give up the bride, despite the intimacy with the girl in love. However, after she, disillusioned with her sweetheart, disappears from his life, he realizes how much he has fallen in love with Fusun. Fruitless attempts to find a loved one end in bitter disappointment: she is married. From now on, Kemal is only a wealthy relative who helps her husband. He rejoices every minute he spends beside his beloved and steels the things that belong to her, creating his own museum of lost love.
The project has been on the agenda for two years. As many believed, Kıvanç Tatlıtuğ who had signed a contract with OGM Pictures to work on the series should star in the show. However, this is not the case. According to the famous journalist Ranini, when buying the rights to the film adaptation of this novel, Eric Barmak knew for sure that he wanted Çağatay Ulusoy for the leading role. As a result, a "gentlemen's agreement" was reached with Çağatay, and he will also be the co-producer of the project.
It should be noted that Çağatay Ulusoy is the first Turkish actor to sign an agreement to work on the Netflix series. Now he became the first Turkish actor to star in the Amazon series as a leading actor. Also, next year, Çağatay will be working on two films (as producer, director, screenwriter, and lead actor).
A gentleman's agreement, unlike an ordinary contract, has no legal effect on the parties. Çağatay has promised to star in this project, but the dates of the series will be determined by the star's work schedule. It will be recalled that in mid-July the shooting of one of the highest-budget Turkish series of recent years Barbaros, where Çağatay will play Aruj Barbarossa, will begin. It is expected that filming will take 7-8 months and by spring the actor will be free to work in the films, where he will act as the lead actor, producer, director and screenwriter, and the Amazon series, in which he will also be the co-producer.
